Streszczenie: Celem pracy jest charakterystyka skali, źródeł finansowania i przeznaczenia nakładów finansowych na działalność innowacyjną w badanych przedsiębiorstwach zlokalizowanych na terenie dwóch powiatów regionu wykazującego cechy peryferyjności oraz określenie najważniejszych barier tej aktywności. Pracę oparto na wynikach badań sondażowych z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza wywiadu, zrealizowanych na terenie badanych powiatów województwa lubelskiego w 2015 roku. Obejmowały one okres 2010-2014. Materiał badawczy stanowiło 147 wywiadów z przedsiębiorcami. Wykazano, że wydatki ukierunkowane na zwiększenie innowacyjności przedsiębiorstw dokonywane były rzadko i przeznaczane były głównie na wzmacnianie ich potencjału materialnego. Przedsiębiorcy finansowali działalność innowacyjną niemal wyłącznie ze środków własnych. Przedsiębiorcy w większości dostrzegali występowanie barier działalności innowacyjnej. Bariery dotyczyły głównie ograniczonych możliwości związanych z zapewnieniem jej finansowania oraz poziomu kosztów wdrażania innowacji - ocenianego jako wysoki.
Streszczenie: The aim of the work is to characterize the scale, sources of financing and the allocation of financial outlays for innovative activities in the surveyed enterprises. The enterprises are located in two counties of the region showing the characteristics of peripherality. The most important barriers to innovative activity were also examined. The work was based on the results of surveys using the interview questionnaire carried out in the examined counties of the Lublin voivodeship. The research material consists of 147 interviews with entrepreneurs. The research were conducted in 2015. They covered the period 2010-2014. The study showed that expenditures aimed at increasing the innovativeness of enterprises were rarely made and were intended mainly to strengthen their material potential. Entrepreneurs financed innovative activity almost exclusively from their own resources. Entrepreneurs mostly noticed the existence of barriers to innovative activity. The barriers mainly concerned limited possibilities of financing the innovative activity and high level of its costs

Streszczenie: The aim of this article is to show the importance and necessity of improving the quality of human capital in the aspect of increasing the level of innovation in rural areas. The key problem is, first of all, waste of human capital and difficulties in shaping awareness and desirable attitudes among residents of rural areas. The desk research method was used for the analysis. Human capital and innovations form a network of interrelationships and dependencies, and the conducted research and analyses aimed at better recognition of said dependencies allow to formulate and direct further research. The development of human capital and care for its quality as well as the associated increase in innovation of rural areas is the primary goal of EU member states' policies. This can be seen in various newer and newer solutions and implemented projects as well as the number of institutions participating in their implementation. More and more attention is paid to the needs and problems of various social groups in rural areas, e.g. senior farmers, where effective use of the potential of this group is becoming a challenge in the face of an aging population. As part of improving the quality of human capital and the innovativeness of rural areas, not only financial assistance but also widely-developed advice is available. There is a need to deepen research in order to clarify the correlation between the quality of human capital and the innovativeness of rural areas, including the search for newsupport instruments.

    Streszczenie: The purpose of the work is to characterize the state of innovative activity of enterprises operating in the peripheral region, as well as to define the prospects for its increase with an indication of the most important barriers of this activity. The work presents the results of empirical research carried out in the Lublin province on a sample of 147 enterprises. The study used the diagnostic poll method using an interview questionnaire. The research allowed for a positive verification of the hypothesis about the existence of a small group of enterprises focused on development in the studied area, active in the area of introducing innovations, noticing the need to implement them and capable of overcoming numerous barriers in this process. Limitations of innovation are more often noticed by entrepreneurs active in the area of the innovation implementation. The main barriers limiting the innovative activity of the assessed enterprises include financial barriers. Barriers related to limited access to knowledge in the innovation process against the background of financial barriers are not very important.

    Streszczenie: Celem pracy jest ocena wykorzystania koncepcji biogospodarki do określenia inteligentnych specjalizacji regionów wojewódzkich w Polsce. Oceny dokonano na podstawie dokumentów programowych Unii Europejskiej oraz regionalnych strategii innowacji wszystkich regionów wojewódzkich w Polsce. Przedstawiono koncepcję inteligentnych specjalizacji i jej zastosowanie w strategiach rozwoju regionów, europejską koncepcję biogospodarki i możliwośc jej przełożenia na warunki polskie oraz ocenę wykorzystania biogospodarki jako inteligentnej specjalizacji w polskich regionach.
    Streszczenie: The subject of the work is an evaluation of using the concept of bioeconomy as a potential topic of smart specialization in development strategies of regions in Poland. The article is prepared with the use of programme documments of the European Union, Poland and innovation strategies of al regions in Poland. The work includes three main parts describing the concept of smart specialization and possibilities of its use in the strategy of regional development, the European concept of bioeconomy and its shifting for Polish conditions and an evaluation of bioeconomy concept utilization for creation of smart specializations in Polish regions.
